Custum and Memorial pieces

Some creations carry more weight than others. A custom piece is a collaboration — a merging of your vision and my craft. A memorial piece is something deeper: a way of honoring a beloved companion, preserving their story, and giving their presence a place to rest.

At Bones & Blooms, every custom and memorial piece is handled with reverence, patience, and the quiet care this work deserves.

What a custom piece means

Finished custom piece.

A custom piece is designed around you — your aesthetic, your story, your connection to the macabre. Whether you’re looking for a wet specimen, bone art, a gothic floral painting, or a sculptural piece, the process begins with intention.

Custom pieces may include:

Wet specimens

Bone displays or articulated pieces

Gothic floral paintings

Anatomical or macabre artwork

Mixed‑media pieces combining bones, florals, and ritual elements

Personalized decor (slate coasters, bookmarks, candles, etc.)

Every custom piece is crafted to feel like a relic — something meaningful, beautiful, and uniquely yours.

Memorial Pieces

Memorial pieces are the heart of Bones & Blooms. They are created with tenderness, respect, and a deep understanding of grief. Whether your companion had feathers, fur, scales, or bones, their memory is treated with the utmost care.

Memorial options include:

  • Wet specimen preservation

  • Bone cleaning and display

  • Custom artwork inspired by your pet

  • Mixed‑media memorials (bones + florals + symbolic elements)

  • Personalized ritual objects

  • Shadowbox memorials

Your companion’s remains are handled gently, thoughtfully, and with full transparency throughout the process.

The process

Every custom or memorial piece follows a clear, respectful workflow.

1. Initial Contact

You share your idea, your pet’s story, or the type of piece you’re envisioning. We discuss options, materials, and timelines.

2. Planning & Design

I create a concept based on your aesthetic preferences — dark florals, anatomical realism, bone work, or macabre elegance.

3. Preservation or Creation

Depending on the piece:

  • Wet specimens are fixed, rinsed, graded, and sealed

  • Bones are rehydrated, fleshed, macerated, degreased, whitened, and dried

  • Art pieces are sketched, gessoes, layered, and painted

  • Mixed‑media pieces are assembled with intention and care

4. Updates & Communication

You receive updates throughout the process — photos, progress notes, and any decisions that need your input.

5. Completion & Delivery

Your piece is finished, sealed, and prepared for safe delivery or pickup.

How to begin a custom or memorial piece

Starting the process is simple and personal.

To begin:

  • Send me a message through the contact form
  • Share your idea or your pet’s story
  • Include any photos, preferences, or inspirations
  • I’ll respond with options, pricing, and next steps

You don’t need to know exactly what you want — we can shape it together.

Pricing and timeline

Because every piece is unique, pricing varies based on:

  • Size

  • Preservation needs

  • Complexity

  • Type of display or artwork

Timelines depend on the piece:

  • Wet specimens: 2–6 weeks

  • Bone cleaning: 3–8 weeks

  • Paintings: 2–12 weeks

  • Mixed‑media pieces vary by design

You’ll receive a clear estimate before we begin.
